| Unit 2: Looking to God |
|
In this Unit, there will be a tendency to be drawn to the examples and illustrations given surrounding the issue of God communicating His purposes to us. (The Sermon for today) Our tendency would be to skip over the introductory material (Days 1 and 2) and “cut to the chase.” Why? Let’s look at this statement made at the beginning of this Unit by the author: SO… How does Blackaby’s Summary Statement square with Philippians 2:13: “It is God who works in you to will and to act according to his good purpose.” And how does Luther’s application of Romans 6:4 apply here as he explains in the Fourth Part on Holy Baptism in his Small Catechism? What are the similarities in the three statements? Are there any differences? Taking what we have learned here… Let’s look at some other “Summary Statements” I must focus my life on God’s purposes, not my own plans. I must seek to see from God’s perspective rather from my own distorted human outlook. I must wait until God shows me what He is about to do through me. I will watch and see what God is doing around me and join Him. What is my responsibility? What is God’s? |
