ANNOUNCEMENTS

CONGREGATIONAL VOTER’S ASSEMBLY MEETING AND POTLUCK:  May 20 after the 11 AM Service.  On the Agenda will be the Youth Minister and the Budget.  Please plan to attend and watch the bulletin for additional information on the meal and what will be provided and what you will need to bring.  Copies of the budget, with a letter of explanation from the treasurer, have been placed on the red table in the church lobby for you to pick up and review prior to the meeting.  Please make sure that you bring your copy with you to the meeting.

BLOOD DRIVE:  Sign up after church today to donate for our Blood Drive on May 9th from 2 – 7 PM.  We need everyone to make this the best turn out ever.  Walk-ins are welcome.  Please sign up in the church lobby or across from the elevator after the services today.  We need every person to make this drive a success.  School parents may sign up their child’s class.  The class with the largest number of donors will be given an ice cream party.

THIS WEEK IN SUNDAY SCHOOL: Jesus calls Himself our shepherd (John 10:22–30). The children learned how we are all like sheep who have gone astray. As a family, talk about this Good Shepherd Jesus, who rescues, gathers, and cares for us through His Word and Sacraments. In what ways has He rescued you? Where can we find our Shepherd? (In His Word and Sacraments.) Review the blessings of Baptism and the Lord’s Supper in the catechism.

CHRISTCARE GROUPS – Visitors welcome! Call Marsha or Charles Puckett for more information.

NEW MEMBER CLASS:  A class for anyone wishing to join Our Savior will be held as a workshop on Saturday, May 19, from 9 AM until 3 PM, with lunch included.  Pastor Fausel will lead the workshop through a study of the basic tenents of the Christian Faith and introduce the participants to our practice of that faith here at Our Savior.  Please notify the church office, 426-1130, if you plan to attend.

SCRAP BOOKING: Ladies, get those projects ready now to work on them this coming Friday at 6 PM.  We will gather in the Fellowship Hall and work on our individual projects and enjoy the fellowship.  Bring something to snack on.  If you have any questions contact Karen Ranzau.

BOOK CLUB: The Our Savior Book Club will meet TODAY after late service, at the Bristol Restaurant on Hurstbourne Lane. We will discuss the “Secret Life of Bees”.  Please remember to bring your books.  New readers are invited to attend. Any questions please contact Karen Osborne.  The book for the month of June is Memory Keeper’s Daughter, by Kim Edwards.

HABITAT FOR HUMANITY:  Our Savior is working with Thrivent, and other Lutheran churches in the area again this year to “Raise the Roof” of a Habitat for Humanity House.  We need a financial commitment of $8,000; as well as, a strong commitment of prayers, and physical laborers.  There are sign up sheets on the church bulletin board for dates to work and the day to provide food.  Any questions please contact Steve Lindgren.  We still need to reach our financial obligation.

VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL IS ON THE HORIZON!  July 16-20 from 9 AM to noon.  We will need a lot of volunteers!  If you are willing to help or would like more information about volunteering, please attend the Volunteer Recruitment Meeting on Thursday, May 17, from 2:30 – 3:15 PM the Fellowship Hall or give our Director, Tracy Hannon a call or email her. Kids ages 3–12 meet friends, explore Bible stories, do fun activities, sing great songs, make crafts, play games, and eat snacks.

YOUTH FUNDRAISING FOR ORLANDO:  Your opportunity to support us!  We are almost there!  We need $18,000 to attend the National Youth Gathering in July.  We are so close!  Please support our Youth at the Bake Sale Table in the Fellowship Hall each Sunday morning.  Thanks to Dave Mehl we have gently used Golf balls for sale, too.  Please support our trip to Orlando.

HELPING HANDS DAY: An opportunity to help is sponsored by the Jefferson County KY chapter of Thrivent, on May 12, from 9:30 AM until 1:30 PM. We will be working on the landscaping around the building and the playground of The Healing Place for Women at 1607 West Broadway.  The Healing Place is a homeless shelter and substance abuse recovery center that serves women and their children. Please bring your shovels, rakes, trowels, and pruning shears to remove existing shrubs and plant and mulch redesigned beds.  Persons at the center have nothing when they arrive.  Sprucing up their surroundings gives them something beautiful to see; thereby giving hope.  Your demonstration of caring for their world, also shares God’s love for them, the largest message of HOPE in the world.  If you plan to help please, contact Marcia Hermann.  Lunch will be provided and there will be an opportunity for you to tour The Healing Place.

PRESCHOOL CHILDCARE STUDENTS NEEDED:  Beginning with the 2007-2008 school year, Our Savior will add full day preschool to the existing preschool program.  These children will meet in the morning in the church nursery room and transition to the preschool room shortly after lunch each day.  In order for us to be able to move forward with preschool childcare for next year, we need 10-12 more students to enroll in the next five weeks.  You can choose the hours and days for your preschooler.  We will be open Monday–Friday 7 AM – 6 PM.  If you know anyone who is interested in this new preschool program for three and four year olds, please have them contact the school office, 426-0864 as soon as possible.  We already have our license.  Mrs. Amy Masterson is ready to step in as the Administrator/teacher.  All we need are the students to make this a reality.

HIGH SCHOOL YOUTH:  Check out the pictures of the latest monthly youth events, both on the posters by the Faculty Lunge and in the Youth Room, and online. (See the Youth Room white board for the password to see the pictures online).  Want to get in on the fun?  Next meeting will be May 20th. For rides or questions call, the Robison’s, 938-4766 or the Otten’s, 244-5903.
