ChristCare informational brochures are located on the table under the bulletin board in the church lobby. Thanks to all who participated in making the Christ Care Sampler an enjoyable experience. A special thank you to Plehn's Bakery in St. Matthews for donating the wonderful pastries. NEW MEMBER CLASS: A class for anyone wishing to join Our Savior will be held as a workshop on Saturday, May 19, from 9 AM until 3 PM, with lunch included. Pastor Fausel will lead the workshop through a study of the basic tenents of the Christian Faith and introduce the participants to our practice of that faith here at Our Savior. Please notify the church office, 426-1130, if you plan to attend. BLOOD DRIVE: Sign up after church today to donate for our Blood Drive on May 9th from 2 – 7 PM. We need everyone to make this the best turn out ever. Walk-ins are welcome. Please sign up in the church lobby or across from the elevator after the services today. We need every person to make this drive a success. School parents may sign up their child’s class. The class with the largest number of donors will be given an ice cream party. BOOK CLUB: The Our Savior Book Club will meet next week after late service, at the Bristol Restaurant on Hurstbourne Lane. We will discuss the “Secret Life of Bees”. Please remember to bring your books. New readers are invited to attend. Any questions please contact Karen Osborne. The book for the month of June is Memory Keeper’s Daughter, by Kim Edwards. HABITAT FOR HUMANITY: Our Savior is working with Thrivent, and other Lutheran churches in the area again this year to “Raise the Roof” of a Habitat for Humanity House. We need a financial commitment of $8,000; as well as, a strong commitment of prayers, and physical laborers. There are sign up sheets on the church bulletin board for dates to work and the day to provide food. Any questions please contact Steve Lindgren. We still need to reach our financial obligation. BUGZ THANK YOU: Thank you to all who helped make the school musical a great success. Everyone from set painters, to costume designers, to the students, to the parents, to those who attended, to Mr. Kamman; without each one participating the play and music would not have been so entertaining. HELPING HANDS DAY: An opportunity to help is sponsored by the Jefferson County KY chapter of Thrivent, on May 12, from 9:30 AM until 1:30 PM. We will be working on the landscaping around the building and the playground of The Healing Place for Women at 1607 West Broadway. The Healing Place is a homeless shelter and substance abuse recovery center that serves women and their children. Please bring your shovels, rakes, trowels, and pruning shears to remove existing shrubs and plant and mulch redesigned beds. The Healing Place has a recovery rate of 65% for sobriety one year out, which is five times greater than the national average. Persons at the center have nothing when they arrive. Sprucing up their surroundings gives them something beautiful to see; thereby giving hope. Your demonstration of caring for their world, also shares God’s love for them, the largest message of HOPE in the world. If you plan to help please, contact Marcia Hermann. Lunch will be provided and there will be an opportunity for you to tour The Healing Place. VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL IS ON THE HORIZON! Uncover the truth about Jesus at Quest for Truth on July 16-20 from 9 AM to noon. Kids ages 3–12 meet friends, explore Bible stories, do fun activities, sing great songs, make crafts, play games, and eat snacks. We expect a great response, so we’ll need a lot of volunteers. If you’re willing to help, give our director, Tracy Hannon, a call or email her. HIGH SCHOOL YOUTH: Check out the pictures of the latest monthly youth events, both on the posters by the Faculty Lunge and in the Youth Room, and online.
