ANNOUNCEMENTS

THIS WEEK IN SUNDAY SCHOOL: Children learned that we, like Thomas, doubt what we cannot see (John 20:19–31). Through His Spirit, God gives us eyes of faith that we might see Jesus in Word and Sacrament and believe in Him. Discuss with your family times when it was hard to trust and believe in the promises of God. Talk about faith and where it comes from (the Holy Spirit). In your catechism review, study the Third Article of the Apostles’ Creed and its explantion.

CHRISTCARE SAMPLER: Join us this week in the gymnasium as ChristCare members share what small group ministry is all about and provide and opportunity for you to ask questions you might have regarding ChristCare.  New groups are now forming! Call Marsha or Charles Puckett for more information.

BLOOD DRIVE:  Sign up after church today to donate for our Blood Drive on May 9th from 2 – 7 PM.  We need everyone to make this the best turn out ever.  Walk-ins are welcome.

A WALL OF BLANKETS:  Take a moment to look at the beautiful blankets the ladies made or assisted in making by donating cloth. 50 blankets were made with many loving hands and hours of fellowship. The blankets are sent to people in need inside the US and to third world countries.

HIGH SCHOOL YOUTH!  Meet at church TODAY, Sunday, April 22, at noon.  In addition to the monthly worship, Bible study, and games you have come to know and love, we will be deciding on some service projects.

OFFERING ENVELOPES: Due to a mailing problem with the offering envelopes some members did not receive the recent envelope mailing.  Please contact the church office, so envelopes can be obtained for you, if you did not receive your envelopes.  We regret any problems this may have caused.

BOOK CLUB: The Our Savior Book Club will meet after later service on May 6th, at the Bristol Restaurant on Hurstbourne Lane. We will discuss the “Secret Life of Bees”.  Please remember to bring your books.  New readers are invited to attend. Any questions please contact Karen Osborne, 243-1765.

MEN’S SOFTBALL PLAYER’S NEEDED: Monday nights at Watkins Methodist Church beginning after Derby.  Our Savior’s softball team is looking for players.  The cost is around $35.  If you are interested in playing please contact Scott Krantz or Mike Hayes.

HABITAT FOR HUMANITY:  Our Savior is working with Thrivent, and other Lutheran churches in the area again this year to “Raise the Roof” of a Habitat for Humanity House.  We need a financial commitment of $8,000; as well as a strong commitment of prayers, and physical laborers.  Watch the church bulletin board for dates to sign-up for work-days.  There is also one day that we will be providing lunches.  Any questions please contact Steve Lindgren.
Activities for the week of 22, 2007

HELPING HANDS DAY:  Two opportunities to help.  The first Join Hands Event is sponsored by the Floyd/Clark chapter of Thrivent, on April 28, beginning 9:00 AM.  We will be working at Camp CedarBrook, in Lanesville, Indiana.  For more information please contact Jill McLellen. The second opportunity to help is sponsored by the Jefferson County KY chapter of Thrivent, on May 12, from 9:30 AM until 1:30 PM. We will be working on the landscaping around the building and the playground of The Healing Place for Women at 1607 West Broadway.  The Healing Place is a homeless shelter and substance abuse recovery center that serves women and their children. Please bring your shovels, rakes, trowels, and pruning shears to remove existing shrubs and plant and mulch redesigned beds.  The Healing Place has a recovery rate of 65% for sobriety one year out, which is five times greater than the national average. Persons at the center have nothing when they arrive.  Sprucing up their surroundings gives them something beautiful to see; thereby giving hope.  Your demonstration of caring for their world, also shares God’s love for them, the largest message of HOPE in the world.  If you plan to help please, contact Marcia Hermann.  Lunch will be provided and there will be an opportunity for you to tour The Healing Place.
