ANNOUNCEMENTS

TODAY IN SUNDAY SCHOOL: “God Controls the Sun and the Moon” (Joshua 10:1–15). Help students understand that God extended the daylight so Joshua and the children of Israel could gain complete victory over their enemy. Parents could ask, “Why was it important for the people to gain complete victory? How does God give us the victory over our enemies: sin, death, and the devil?”

HABITAT FOR HUMANITY: We are working with Thrivent and other area Lutheran churches again this year to “Raise the Roof” of a Habitat for Humanity House. We have a financial commitment of $8,000 as well as a strong commitment of prayers and physical laborers to meet. Please sign up on the church bulletin board on days you can assist. VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL: At Quest for Truth we travel to Holy Land sites to uncover evidence that shows the truth about Jesus. Sign up by filling out the registration form found at the Welcome Center and putting it in the box you will find there. For information call Tracy Hannon at 423-7216. 

YOUTH FUNDRAISING FOR ORLANDO: Your opportunity to support us!  We are almost there!  We need $18,000 to attend the National Youth Gathering in July.  Please support our Youth at the Bake Sale Table each Sunday morning. 

CAMP CEDARBROOK VESPERS: Sunday Evening Devotions are at 6 PM. Tonight’s speaker is Pastor Lehenbauer of Divine Savior.  Next week’s speaker will be Pastor Andy Guagenti of Good Shepherd. The camp is located just SE of the Lanesville, IN interchange off of I-64. In case of rain, the devotions will be held indoors.

TEACHING SUMMER SUNDAY SCHOOL VOLUNTEERS NEEDED:  A sign up sheet will be outside the sanctuary with dates needed. Three levels of classes are offered. Lessons are provided. Please consider volunteering.

SUMMER SUNDAY MORNING ADULT BIBLE CLASS: HEROES OF THE FAITH Bible Class will continue to meet through September 16th for all adults in the Fellowship Hall. Each study is designed to stand alone. That is, you will not feel lost or behind if you miss one or more weeks at a time. Pastor Fausel and Paul Nickel will be leading the study.

FOOD PANTRY SHELVES ARE BARE:  The Food Pantry that we assist in supporting is in urgent need of food supplies.  The shelves are BARE.  If you are able to help during this crisis please pick up a list of suggested food items on the table in the church lobby.  Please return the non-perishable food items to the box below the sign in the lobby.  Your support of this outreach ministry is truly appreciated. “For when I was hungry you gave me something to eat,…I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me.” Matthew 25:35-40. Thanks to your generous heartfelt giving 53 bags of food and toiletries have been distributed.  What a blessing to see God’s people in action for others less fortunate.

CONFIRMATION PICTURES ARE HERE:  2007 Confirmands’ your pictures are in the church office and may be picked up between services or during normal office hours during the week. 

CAMP CEDARBROOK’S ANNUAL PICNIC:  June 30th from 5:30 PM to 9 PM will be the annual picnic with a Luau Theme.  There will be a Pig Roast, games and Karaoke.  The cost is $8/adult and $4/child under the age of 12.  Please contact Jill McLellen at Grace, Sherry Pierce at St. John’s, or the church office at Concordia. The camp is located just SE of the Lanesville, IN interchange off of I-64.  

PRESCHOOL CHILDCARE STUDENTS NEEDED: Beginning with the 2007-2008 school year Our Savior is licensed to add a full day preschool to the existing preschool program. The children will meet in the morning in the church nursery room and transition to the preschool room after lunch each day. We will be open Monday–Friday 7 AM – 6 PM. If you know anyone who is interested in this new preschool program for three and four year olds, please have them contact the school office, 426-0864 as soon as possible.

FREE:  Copies of the 2001 Reformation Service featuring Oswald Hoffmann on VHS.  The tapes are located in the church lobby.  There are 60 copies available to members of Our Savior.  They were found during recent cleaning.

HIGH SCHOOL YOUTH! WATER EXTRAVAGANZA: Is scheduled for Sunday June 24th beginning at 3PM at the church! BYOWW (bring your own water weapon!) Don’t forget the sunscreen.  If you were in high school last year or will be next year, please join us and bring a friend!  For more information, see the flyer on the youth board or in the youth room.  If you have questions or need a ride, call the Otten’s, 244-5903 or the Robison’s, 938-4766.

MEN’S SOFTBALL TEAM SCHEDULE FOR THIS WEEK:  This week our Men’s Softball Team plays at Monday night at 8:30 PM at Watkins Memorial United Methodist Church, 9800 Westport Road.  To find out if it has been rained out call 425-2200.

SUMMER CLEAN-UP PROJECT:  Those interested parties that have items stored in the following rooms: LWML/BOY SCOUT ROOM, NURSERY ROOM, KITCHEN (FELLOWSHIP HALL).  All closets and cabinets will be cleaned out in these areas.  Clean-up will be every Monday morning in June beginning at 9:30 am.  All items not claimed will be disposed.  Please contact Mr. Brieschke at 426-0864 for more details.

CLEARING HOUSE ITEMS:  There are several tables located in the Fellowship Hall with items that have been cleared from closets as part of a cleaning effort to prepare for the Preschool Childcare.  If any of these items are yours please take them.  WE ASK THAT YOU DO NOT TAKE ANY ITEMS THAT ARE NOT PERSONALLY YOURS until the end of the month as many people are on vacation and need the opportunity to claim their property.   If you have personal need of the items that are left on the table during the first week of July then you may take them.  After the first week of July what is left uncollected will be taken to a donation site. If there are items that your group in the church uses please, return them from the table to your storage area.  Additional cleaning will occur each Monday through the month of June. Thank you.

BOOK CLUB:  The club is reading “The Glass Castle”, by Geannette Walls, to be discussed at the July 1st meeting. If you need a book see Karen Osborne.
