The sole purpose of this meeting is to review a list of candidates and place a call for the position of Youth Director. All members are encouraged to attend this meeting.RALLY DAY/CHURCH PICNIC: August 26 has been set for Rally Day and the Church picnic. Please bring a dessert and a side dish to feed 10-12 people. There will be a inflatable for the children, we want to encourage those of you who have corn hole games, croquet sets, badminton, etc. to bring them with you. TODAY IN SUNDAY SCHOOL: “God Rescues through an Earthquake” Acts 16:20–34. This account shares Paul’s miraculous escape from prison, leading to the salvation of the jailer and his whole family. Parents might ask, “What frightening things make us value God’s love and care? What did the power of Baptism do for this whole family?” SUMMER SUNDAY MORNING ADULT BIBLE CLASS: HEROES OF THE FAITH Bible Class will continue to meet through September 30th for all adults in the Fellowship Hall. Each study is independent of the others. HABITAT FOR HUMANITY: We have a financial commitment of $8,000 as well as a strong commitment of prayers and physical laborers to meet. Please sign up on the church bulletin board if you can assist on August 25. OSLC GROUNDS CLEAN UP DAY: Thanks to everyone who helped clean up around grounds of Our Savior yesterday. Your efforts are truly appreciated. ADDRESS/TELEPHONE DIRECTORY: A new address/telephone directory for the congregation will be printed soon. A current copy has been placed on the Welcome Center for you to verify your information. Please correct any information next to your name legibly. CANOEING FOR ALL: EVERYONE IS INVITED. Saturday September 8, a day of canoeing on Elkhorn Creek, near Frankfort, KY. Plans are to leave at 8:15 AM traveling by coach bus and returning around 4 PM. Transportation is available for the first 47 who have completed the register forms and paid. Those who register by August 31, will be entered into a drawing to have their trip FREE. Forms are available on the church bulletin board or in the school office. All completed forms and monies are to be turned into the school office. The cost is $30/person (bus and canoe rental). You should plan to bring the food and non-alcoholic beverages for the day (no glass containers). The information packet has all the details regarding the trip. CONFIRMATION RETREAT: A Confirmation Retreat is scheduled for September 21-23. This retreat is mandatory for all 7th and 8th grade students. Details of the event will be sent out later. If you have a child that will be in the 7th or 8th grade and have not received a letter concerning Confirmation please contact the church office. Our church records are not 100% complete with everyone’s birth date and we need to make sure that no one is left out. SCHOOL RESUMES: Our Savior School resumes Wednesday, so please remember to obey the posted 5 MPH speed limit on church property and be especially watchful for the children on the parking lot and driving surfaces. CAMP CEDARBROOK VESPERS: Sunday Evening Devotions are at 6 PM. The camp is located just SE of the Lanesville, IN interchange off of I-64. In case of rain, the devotions will be held indoors. SUNDAY SCHOOL LEADERS NEEDED: We need one or two people’s hearts willing to become Sunday School Co-directors. Please prayerfully consider this need for the church in your own heart, is God calling you? Please contact Paul Nickel for additional information. BOOK CLUB: Is reading S Is For Silence, by Sue Grafton. Call Karen Osborne, 243-1765. Next meeting is September 2 after late service at the Bristol on Hurstbourne Lane. ALTAR FLOWERS: Anyone wishing to place flowers on the altar in honor of or in memory of someone may do so by signing up on the Flower Chart at the bottom of the stairs in the church lobby. Please complete a card and a remit a check payable to LWML for $16.00. BORROWING ITEMS FROM THE CHURCH: If anyone needs to borrow tables or chairs or any other items from the church please contact the church office, 426-1130, at least one week prior to your event. CAMP CEDARBROOK: Is having a “GERMAN” festival on Saturday, August 25th from 1-6 PM. There will be a children’s bounce house, duck pond, pony rides, entertainment and bingo. Volleyball nets, along with a baseball diamond, basketball goal, horseshoe pits, lake and 8 miles of trails, are available. Join us for food, fun, and fellowship. LLL will be having a fundraiser during time with proceeds going to the enclosure of the pavilion to create an all-purpose center. The website for the camp is www.campcedarbrooklll.com. CAMP CEDARBROOK YARD SALE: September 8th at Concordia Lutheran, Louisville. We are looking for donations of items for the sale. For information call Jill McLellen at 502-797-8743. AFTER SCHOOL CHILDCARE TEACHER POSITION AVAILABLE: If you or someone you know is interested in applying for the 3 – 6 PM position of caring for 3 and 4 year old children in a classroom setting from Monday through Friday please submit a resume to Mr. Brieschke in the school office. The salary is $7.75. The candidate must be 21 years of age or older, meet the Kentucky licensing requirements, and pass a police records check. ATTENTION TO THOSE WITH THOSE WHO HAVE LOVED ONES SERVING IN THE MILITARY: The members of Emily Hayes’ ChristCare group would like to stay in touch with your loved ones by writing letters and sending cards.
