SUMMER SUNDAY MORNING ADULT BIBLE CLASS: HEROES OF THE FAITH Bible Class will continue to meet through September 30th for all adults in the Fellowship Hall. Each study is independent of the others.

BLANKETS FOR THE HABITAT HOMES: We will be sewing nine (9) blankets for the two (2) Habitat homes that we have worked on. We have the sizes of the beds and colors of the rooms. If anyone is interested in working on this project of love or has fabric to donate, please contact Nora Horecny, Terry or Steve Lindgren or Sharon in the church office for additional information.
SEPTEMBER is FOOD PANTRY COLLECTION MONTH: September is our month to collect and stock the shelves at the Food Pantry. Today after each service bags will be distributed with a list of suggested food staples. Please take time when you are shopping for your family to shop for those less fortunate also. The need is great. There is a box in the church lobby for you to bring your donation. Each week donations will be taken to the Food Pantry. Our Savior has been an example to others for caring for the least; let us continue to answer God’s call to care for our fellow man and serve God and others.
CANOEING FOR ALL: EVERYONE IS INVITED. Saturday September 8, a day of canoeing on Elkhorn Creek, near Frankfort, KY. Plans are to leave at 8:15 AM traveling by coach bus and returning around 4 PM. Transportation is available for the first 47 who have completed the registation forms and paid. All completed forms and monies are to be turned into the school office. The cost is $30/person (bus and canoe rental). You should plan to bring the food and non-alcoholic beverages for the day (no glass containers). The information packet has all the details regarding the trip.
CONFIRMATION RETREAT: A Confirmation Retreat is scheduled for September 21-23. This retreat is mandatory for all 7th and 8th grade students. Details of the event will be sent out later. If you have a child that will be in the 7th or 8th grade and have not received a letter concerning Confirmation please contact the church office. Our church records are not 100% complete with everyone’s birth date and we need to make sure that no one is left out.
CAMP CEDARBROOK YARD SALE: September 8th at Concordia. Items for donations may be brought to Concordia church basement during business hours. M,T,W,F 8:45- 4:30 and Thursday 8:45 -12:00. Also needed are plastic grocery bags for sale items, workers to sort and price items, and workers for the day of the sale. If you can assist please call Jill McLellen at 502-797-8743.
ADULT CHOIR RESUMES: Adult Choir begins this Thursday at 7:30 PM. Anyone, high school age or older, is welcome to join us. This is a great way to use your talents in an enjoyable way.
AFTER SCHOOL CHILDCARE TEACHER POSITION AVAILABLE: The position is from 3 – 6 PM, Monday - Friday, caring for 3 and 4 year old children in a classroom setting. Anyone 21 years of age or older, meet the Kentucky licensing requirements, and able to pass a police records check may submit an application to Mr. Brieschke.
WOMEN’S BIBLE STUDY: Began last Monday Evening and will continue for the next three (3) weeks with Melissa Nelson at 6:30 PM. Why I AM a Lutheran JESUS at the Center, by Daniel Preus. Through a blend of understandable explanations and real life stories, Why I Am a Lutheran explores the foundational teachings of the Christian church.
FALL MUMS FOR SALES: The 8th Grade Class is selling Fall Mums to raise funds for their class trip. Your may place your order in the school office or on the church bulletin board. Color varieties include yellow, white, bronze, red/maroon, or pink/lavender. Orders with payment must be turned in by September 21st into the school office. Make checks payable to OSLS Class of 2008.
BOOK CLUB: Will discuss S Is For Silence, by Sue Grafton today, after late service at the Bristol on Hurstbourne Lane.
FREE: Copies of the 2001 Reformation Service featuring Oswald Hoffmann on VHS. The tapes are located in the church lobby. There are 50 copies available to members of Our Savior.
DIVORCE RECOVERY GROUP: DivorceCare is a special weekly seminar and support group for people who are separated or divorced. DivorceCare meets on Wednesday evenings from 6:30-8 PM, at Grace Lutheran Church, 1787 Klerner Lane, in New Albany. For more information and schedule call Kristi at 502-303-3500.
CONGRATULATIONS TO THE MEN’S SOFTBALL TEAM: Our Men’s Softball team won their Monday night league and also took First place in the tournament at Watkins. Their trophies are on display in the Welcome Center. KENTUCKIANA FEDERATION EXECUTIVE BOARD MEETING: Will be held Sept. 6, 2007, at 1 PM at the Cedar Lake Foundation office. Please note the date and the time change. The next Delegate meeting will be held on Sept. 17, 2007 at 7:30 P.M. at Epiphany, New Salisbury, IN.
