LUTHERAN WITNESS SUBSCRIPTIONS:  It is time to order or renew your subscription.  Order forms are located on the church bulletin board.  Please complete the form and return it to the church office or offering plate with a check for $15.00. The deadline to order is October 29, 2007.

LUTHERAN EDUCATION ANNUAL FUND (LEAF): Today is the beginning of this annual campaign which is an important part of the Department of Day School’s budget and helps to subsidize the cost of educating the students.  There will be tables set up in the church and elevator lobbies for the next 4 weeks to assist our members in the collection of donations.  Your participation in LEAF helps the Day School maintain a quality learning environment at Our Savior.

SUNDAY MORNING ADULT BIBLE CLASS: now meets in the gymnasium.

TODAY IN SUNDAY SCHOOL: Today the children will learn that God was with Moses (Exodus 1:1—2:10), caring for him and protecting him.. God saved His people through Moses, who lead them out of slavery.  Where is Christ in this lesson?  God in Christ saves all people from the bondage of sin and death.  Family discussions might touch on how God loves and cares for us (First Article of the Creed) and how God delivers us from evil (Lords’ Prayer, Seventh Petition).Children should go directly to their Sunday School classes, as they gather for a closing this year instead of an opening.  Thank you. 

ANNUAL ELECTION OF CHURCH LEADERS: The positions of President and Vice President and the department heads of Day School, Evangelism, Building and Grounds, Elders, Parish Education, and Finance and Administration (Treasurer), are open for election this fall.  If you or anyone you know are willing to serve please contact, Steve Lindgren, chairman of the nominating committee, or Luther Oberhaus, Norm Kendt, or Larry Ashley with the name and their phone number. 

ENTERTAINMENT BOOKS FOR 2007-2008 are available from LWML for $20 in the church office and school office.  Make your checks payable to LWML. This book has discount coupons for local restaurants, entertainment activities, services, and other discounts. If you have questions please contact Billie Detroy. 

BLOOD DRIVE: Thanks to all who donated blood at our fall blood drive.  We collected 19 units.  There was a three-way tie for the  ice cream treat from the Red Cross, between the first, second and fourth grade.

GOLDEN OLDIES:  This Wednesday, October 17, for those who signed up should be here at 10:30 AM so we may depart by 10:45 on TARC to see the IMAX show, "The Living Sea" and then eat a buffet lunch at the Galt House.

STRATEGIC MINISTRY PLANNING (SMP) VOLUNTEERS NEEDED (short term) for only January and February. Three chairpersons and committee members are needed for three SMP sub-committees: Prayer, Communications, and Hospitality. The sub-committees’ work will be short term and only be done in January and February 2008. For questions, or if interested in helping, contact Norm Kendt, 254-1612.

LWML ZONE FALL RETREAT: “Bringing Good News” will be held at Our Savior on Saturday, October 20, from 10AM-2:30PM., Registration and fellowship beginning at 9 A.M. The day's events will include Bible Study, singing, and a presentation by Wendy Foster on "Well Dressed Feet." Dawn and Richard Johnson will also talk about their prison ministry experiences at the correctional facility in Henryville, Indiana.  Cost is $5 and includes lunch. All women of Our Savior are invited to come for any or all of the retreat.

BUILDING FRIENDS:  Is the title of a book donated to Our Savior Lutheran Church by Metro Louisville Habitat for Humanity, as a token of appreciation for our support of the home that was built over the summer.  This book may be located on the shelves in the church lobby for check out.
      
SPECIAL WORSHIP SERVICE AND CONGREGATIONAL VOTER’S MEETING:  November 11, that day there will be only one service at 10 AM with Sunday School and Bible Study at 9 AM.  The Voter’s Meeting to elect officers will be held immediately after the service in the sanctuary.  There will not be a pot-luck meal associated with this meeting.  Please make note of this special service time on your calendar.  Thank You.       

BOOK FAIR: Don’t miss the Scholastic Book Fair being held in the gym Wednesday through Friday, October 24-26. Hours on Weds. are 3-8:30 PM, Thurs. 11:30 AM-8 PM, and Fri. 9-10 AM.  This is a great opportunity to buy quality books and other gifts for the whole family.  Profits go to purchase books for the school library.
