Thanks be to our God for the generosity in His people at Our Savior. The members of Our Savior donated 20 Thanksgiving baskets and $285 in gift cards to assist EACM to provide Thanksgiving Baskets for those less fortunate in our area. Mr. Larkin’s Swim team collected enough non-perishable food items to fill the back of a van that accompanied the baskets and gifts cards to the Food Pantry. “God our Maker, doth provide, For our wants to be supplied.” LSB Hymn 892.TODAY IN SUNDAY SCHOOL: Just as God provided manna, water and quail (Exodus 16-17) for the hungry and complaining Israelites to preserve them, in Christ, God feeds us with the manna of His Word and the water of forgiveness, satisfying our eternal hunger and quenching our eternal thirst. Talk to your children about how sin causes us to be lost and hungry and thirsty for what we cannot have. Speak of Jesus, the bread of life and the living water, how He satisfies our spiritual hunger and thirst. Review together the fourth Petition of the Lord’s Prayer. THANKSGIVING SERVICE: There will only be one Thanksgiving Service this year and it will be held on Wednesday Evening at 7 PM. Please join us that evening as we give thanks to God for His many blessings. OSLS OPEN HOUSE THANK YOU: Thank you to all those who spent time sprucing up the school and grounds the Saturday prior to the Open House. Also a special thank you, to all who participated in the Open House from greeting visitors at the door, giving tours, and bringing friends. Your support of the school is wonderful and truly appreciated. GOLDEN OLDIES: On Nov. 9, at 12 PM, Mark Schultz will talk and show slides about his stay in Fuzhou, China. Join us for this exciting presentation and lunch. TAGGED AS AN USHER?: Bob Tancula is working on ushering teams for the 2008 calendar year. Be careful if he comes up and tags you for a team. But don’t worry, you will only have to serve about once a month and the more people he tags the less often you will have to serve. You receive free on-the-job training by professionals and the best benefit of all you are serving the Lord and the members of Our Savior. If you would like to usher for the 8:30 or 11 AM service you may also contact the church office. ANGEL TREE: Take an Angel from the tree and when you are shopping for your family pick up an item or two on the list and bring them to the church lobby to us. Christmas is a time to share that love with others, those we know and strangers. Thank you for remembering those less fortunate at this special time of year by shopping with an angel. THE 18TH ANNUAL MESSIAH SING-A-LONG: will be held at Our Savior on December 4, at 7:30 PM. There will be gifted soloists and musicians. Come and be a part of this event by singing along with the chorus part or simply come and listen to the sanctuary filled with the wonderful sound of Handel’s Messiah. This event is free and open to the public, so invite a friend to join you for this unique opportunity to prepare your heart and mind for the coming our Lord. VALPO PECANS FOR SALE: Just in time for baking. The Valparaiso Guild is selling wonderful pecans for $7.25/pound. You may purchase them between services. ENTERTAINMENT BOOKS FOR 2007-2008 are available from LWML for $20 in the church office and school office. Make your checks payable to LWML. This book has discount coupons for local restaurants, entertainment activities, services, and other discounts. If you have questions please contact Billie Detroy. CRAFT NIGHT AT KCIW: On December 10, the Kentuckiana Zone will make its semi-annual visit to the Kentucky Correctional Institution for Women in Pee Wee Valley. We need ten ladies to help with the craft. It is a fun way to minister to those in prison. No experience is necessary. LUTHERAN EDUCATION ANNUAL FUND (LEAF): this annual campaign is an important part of the Department of Day School’s budget and helps subsidize the cost of educating the students. There are tables set up in the church and elevator lobbies to assist our members in the collection of donations. Your participation in LEAF helps maintain a quality learning environment OSLS.
