Please indicate the day and time preference on the sheet.CHURCH AND SCHOOL SECURITY: On several occasions over the last couple of weeks the church and school building has been found to have doors left unlocked. If you are a person with a key despite another group being in the building it is still YOUR responsibility to check to see that all doors are locked when you exit the building. If you do not have a key and the church door is lock you MUST EXIT THROUGH THE SCHOOL DOORS. SUNDAY SCHOOL: Like us, Jesus was tempted by Satan to sin (Matthew 4:1-11). Yet, for us, He overcame all temptation because we cannot. In your family discussions, consider how we are tempted to rely on ourselves and to trust in our powers. Provide examples. Assure your children that God lovingly provides all that we need for this life and eternity, doing all things for us and ordering our days and life in His peace. LENTEN SERVICE AND A MEAL: Continues each Wednesday at 7 PM for our Midweek Lenten services. The meal begins at 6 PM. NEW LENTEN SERVICE OPTION: Chapel Lenten Services at 2:15 PM each Wednesday afternoon. All members are invited to attend this service in which the students of OSLS provide the leadership and message. BAKE SALE: LWML is sponsoring a Bake Sale on TODAY before and after the special 10 AM Worship Service. Pick up some special treats for your family and you. Proceeds will be matched by Thrivent and be used for providing wheelchairs for people in third world countries. . FAREWELL PARTY: The Evangelism Committee is sponsoring a Farewell Party for the OSLS Korean families that will be leaving at the end of February. The congregation is invited to join the party on Saturday, February 16, from 2-4 PM. Please RSVP to Karen Osborne, 243-1765. Y'ALL CHRISTCARE GROUP STARTING EXPERIENCING GOD: The Y'ALL (Young Adult Lutheran Life) ChristCare group will be starting Experiencing God in February. FOOD PANTRY FOR REDEEMER LUTHERAN CHURCH: During February Our Savior has committed to help supply, Redeemer’s Food Pantry. The items needed are canned meats, dried beans or rice, canned fruit and vegetables, boxed desserts, boxed breads, crackers, muffins, canned juice, dried or canned milk, pancake mix and syrup. Also needed are toilet paper, Kleenex, diapers (all sizes) baby wipes, bath soaps, shampoos (adult and children) and conditioners, dish soap, laundry soap, toothpaste, hairbrushes, deodorants, garbage bags, paper towels and napkins, and women’s feminine needs. SUNDAY SCHOOL CHILDREN SINGING: The first through sixth grade classes will be singing during the 8:30 AM service on March 9th. Please mark your calendar now. TASTE OF OUR SAVIOR DONATIONS NEEDED: The 2008 Taste of Our Savior Committee is collecting and soliciting donations now. Do you work for or frequent a business (salon, pizza, dance class, car wash, Starbucks etc.) that might be interested in making a donation? Donations received by February 15th will be printed in our auction booklet. Donation letters are available in the school office. If you would prefer not asking yourself just get us the information and we'll be happy to make the contacts. Tickets will be available after service today and before and after services the following weeks. OUR SAVIOR LUTHERAN SCHOOL: Began accepting applications for the 2008-09 academic year on January 7, 2008. Those interested in Our Savior’s Preschool Childcare and school grades preschool-eighth, are encouraged to contact the school office, 426-0864. Applications received on or before Feb. 15 require a $100/child application fee. After Feb. 15 the application fee is $200/child. BACKSIDE MINISTRY NEWS: Saturday, February 16, there will be a “No Sale Yard Sale” at Trackside for the workers. Items needed are respectable clothing, furniture, single beds, appliances, household items, sheets and towels. If you have any items to donate, contact Karen Osborne, 243-1765 CALLING JUNIOR ACHIEVEMENT VOLUNTEERS: This year’s “Done in a Day” Junior Achievement Program will be on Friday, February 15. If you are interested in teaching one of our school classes the Junior Achievement program (K-8), please contact Melanie Douglas at 214-8480 or 599-6790. All program materials are provided by Junior Achievement. This is a great way to serve the children in our school and teach them about economics, business, money, etc. |
