ANNOUNCEMENTS

CONGREGATIONAL MEETING:  Congregational Meeting has been set for TODAY following the 11 AM service.  Please plan to attend.   A copy of the budget has been placed in your narthex mailboxes. 

GOLF LEAGUE AT OUR SAVIOR:  Anyone (male or female) interested in participating in an Our Savior golf league, please attend an organizational meeting on Wednesday, April 23rd at 6:30 PM in the Choir Room.  This is a handicap league in a 2 person team format so players of all skill levels are welcome.  If you cannot attend or if you have questions about the league please contact John Kuecker at 222-1048.
 
SPRING SING:  OSLS Spring Sing is “The Big Bad Musical:  A Howling Courtroom Comedy, scheduled for April 24 at 7 PM.  There will be performances by the Hosanna and Gloria Choirs also. 

SUNDAY SCHOOL: Today we hear how each of us is like the lame beggar as we stand before God (Acts 3). Yet through the means of grace, God’s Word and Sacraments, God bestows on us what Christ accomplished on the cross: forgiveness of sins. In your family discussions talk about what it means to have the “forgiveness of sins.”

NEW MEMBER CLASS: Pastor Fausel will be leading a “New Member Class” for those who want to learn more about our church and its teachings on Saturday, April 26, from 9:30 AM until 3:30 PM with lunch included. This class will cover the study of the basic tenents of the Christian Faith and introduce the participants to our practice of the faith here at Our Savior.  Please contact the church office, 426-1130, if you plan to attend so that we can reserve a space for you.

CHILDCARE PROVIDER NEEDED:  A volunteer is needed for Saturday, April 26, from 9:30 – 3:30 to provide childcare for the New Member class.  If God has placed this area of service on your heart please contact the church office, 426-1130.

NURSERY VOLUNTEERS NEEDED ON MOTHER’S DAY:  we are looking for volunteers to staff the nursery from 8:30 AM-12 PM on May 11 so mom’s who staff the nursery may be able to worship with their family’s.  If you would be willing to help please contact Michelle Lehenbauer, 228-2071. Thank you.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED TO FILL POSITIONS:  We are in need of a person or persons to fill the position of Sunday School Superintendent and a person to serve as the chairperson for the Department of Parish Education.  Is God calling and inviting you to serve the children of this congregation in this capacity?  Please prayerfully consider filling this need.  If interested please contact Paul Nickel.

BLANKETS: The blankets displayed in the narthex were made by a few women at Our Savior.  To all who assisted in making the blankets and to those who furnished material, thank you.  Your efforts have enabled us to complete 52 blankets for those in third world countries.

VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL:  VBS at Our Savior will be July 28 - August 1, mark your calendars now.  If you would like to volunteer to assist with some aspect of VBS please contact Tracy Hannon, 423-7216 

SPRING BLOOD DRIVE:  Our spring blood Drive will be held on Wednesday, May 14 from 2:30 - 6:30 PM in the Fellowship Hall.  Sign-ups will begin May 2. 

PECANS AVAILABLE: If anyone is interested in purchasing some pecans, please contact Barbara Haller, 426-7755. 

CONFIRMATION SUNDAY:  Next Sunday we will celebrate with seven of our youth and their families the Rite of Confirmation at the 11 AM service. 

GOLDEN OLDIES:  Tomorrow, Monday, April 21, the Golden Oldies will have a program given by the Extension office's Urban Gardening Agent Denise Peterson, on "Container Gardening". Cutting back on the size of your garden?  A container garden provides a way to have flowers, herbs or vegetables without requiring as much work as a traditional garden

REDEEMER BENEFIT:  On April 27, at 3 PM Redeemer Lutheran Church will be hosting a concert of Choirs to benefit New Beginnings, a place for transition for women leaving prison.  Redeemer is located at 3640 Rive Park Drive, Louisville.

VOLUNTEER NEEDED TO MANAGE NURSERY SCHEDULE:  We are looking for a person or persons to take over the coordination of the nursery and nursery scheduling.  Free on the job training will be provided. We thank Michelle Lehenbauer for serving as the Nursery coordinator for the last several years.  The current schedule goes till the end of December 2008.  Please search your heart and see if God is calling you to serve our youngest lambs in this capacity.  If you are interested or desire additional information please contact Michelle Lehenbauer, 228-2071.

FEDERATION CHURCH MEETING:  The next Executive Board Meeting of the Kentuckiana Federation of Lutheran Churches will be Thursday May 8 at 3:30 pm. at the offices of Cedar Lake Foundation in Lyndon.  This is a change in both date and time from what was announced at the last Delegates meeting.

GIFTS AND MEMORIALS: Additional Memorials are now being sought to install two high-power video projectors with computer controls including an upgrade to the sound system used in our 11 AM service and to enhance our worship in the sanctuary for all services.  A memorial of $7,500 for this has already been received along with $5,000 from “The Taste of Our Savior” toward the total project cost of about $25,000.   We’re half way there!  If you are considering a special gift or memorial in addition to your normal giving, please consider designating the gift to the: Church Projection Project. 

LUTHERAN FAMILY SERVICES:  On Saturday, May 10, Lutheran Family Services will be hosting its 10th Annual golf Scramble at Tanglewood Golf Course, in Taylorsville, beginning at 12:15 PM with lunch.  For registration and more information please contact Lutheran Family Services at 899-5991.

UGANDA MISSIONARY PRESENTATION:  On Tuesday, April 22, 7 PM, Rev. Jacob Gillard and his family will make a presentation at Concordia Lutheran Church in Louisville.  Gillard, will be serving in Uganda in a career missionary capacity.  They are looking for people who would consider partnering with them in this mission venture.  You, and anyone else you would care to invite, are encouraged to attend.
