OSLS FALL FESTIVAL:  The Fall Festival is this Saturday, October 10, from 12-4 PM.  There will be games, food, fellowship and fun for all ages.  Booth space is available for rent for anyone who has craft or business. Forms for booth rentals are available in the school and church office. You may purchase advance tickets by completing a form in the school office.  Advance Ticket prices are on sale soon at the price of 5 tickets for a $1, or 4 tickets for a $1 at the door.  

AHG USED UNIFORM SALES: The American Heritage Girls Troop will have another uniform sale during the Fall Festival.  Donations of new or gently used uniforms are being accepted in the large purple bin in the school lobby.

NEW WOMEN’S BIBLE STUDY: “Holding Out for a Hero”, by Lisa Harper, will begin tomorrow, October 5 in the Faculty Lounge from 6:30-8:30 PM or on Friday, October 9, at 12 PM with a light lunch, n the home of Melissa Nelson. MEN’S MINISTRY RETREAT:  On October 16-17 Men’s Ministry will be having a retreat at the Lose’s Farm.  Contact Paul Nickel for a map.  Sign up outside of Paul Nickel’s Office.  We will meet at church on Friday at 4 PM and carpool. The cost is $20 for the three meals.  Please bring your Pillow, Sleeping Bags, Bibles, Flashlights, & Bug Repellent.  Join us for a day and a half of hiking, campfires, good food and self-exploration.

DINING OUT TOGETHER (DOT): On October 17 the group will be gathering at Bruce’s Smokehouse Ball Park Grill, located at 10317 Watterson Trail. Please join us for the food, fun, and the fellowship.

PORTALS OF PRAYER: Beginning this Quarter (Oct-Dec), a special thank you to the generous member who has provided copies of Portals of Prayer for members of the congregation.  Please only take one per family so that every family may have a copy if they desire. They are available in the church lobby and in the narthex. If you cannot locate a copy, please contact the church office. 

ENTERTAINMENT BOOKS: Entertainment books are available now for purchase ($20 each) in the church office.  They have some great coupons for local restaurants, other businesses and activities. 

VIDEO TO DVD TRANSFER WITH FOOD DONATION:  EACM is partnering with Flicko’s in Middletown to help gather food for their food pantry.  Just by taking some non-perishable food items to Flicko’s you will receive a free video to DVD transfer. 
C & T’S:  The monthly gathering of the College & Twenties’ is Sunday, October 11 at 6 PM, at the home of the Kuder’s.  

EACM SEPTEMBER FOOD PANTRY RESULTS:  Thanks to all who donated food and other items to the pantry during the month.  Your donations over filled 5 grocery carts. Thank you for your generosity. 

OCTOBER FOOD PANTRY COLLECTIONS:  The collection for the month of October will be going to Redeemer’s Food Pantry, our sister congregation. Especially needed are canned meats, quick fix meals (ravioli, etc.), pancake mix and syrup, spaghetti, spaghetti sauce, soup, crackers, cereal, and fruit.  They are also having a WINTER CLOTHING DRIVE, in which they are gathering (new or gently used) coats, boots, gloves, scarves, mittens, sweatshirts, etc. Please consider donating. 

LUTHERAN WITNESS SUBSCRIPTIONS: If you would like to order a subscription for the 2010 Lutheran Witness, please submit a completed form along with payment to the church office. By October 26. Forms are located on the church bulletin board.

DADDY/DAUGHTER DANCE:  To celebrate this special bond, our AHG Troop KY0317 is hosting our first-ever Daddy/Daughter Dance on Friday, October 16, 7 – 9 PM, in the gymnasium. This event will have a “Sweetheart” theme in honor of Sweetest Day and is open to girls of all ages and Daddies or other special male role models in their lives (uncle, grandpa, etc.)  Tickets will be $10 per person and $5 for each additional daughter through Sunday, October 11. Prices go up to $15 beginning October 12

KROGER GIFT CARDS: Are you looking for extra ways to help support Our Savior? If you shop or purchase gasoline at Kroger’s; why not stop in the church office and purchase a Kroger Gift Card for $5. The Gift card is worth $5 at Kroger and is rechargeable at the register before your purchases for any amount.  The card can be charged with a credit card, check, or cash, which only takes a few minutes.  Stop by the church office today. 

FALL WOMEN’S RETREAT AT CAMP LAKEVIEW:  Ladies, once again, Lakeview is offering a fantastic Women’s Retreat on October 9-11, with special guest speaker Jan Burnette. A list is on the bulletin board for those who would like to carpool. 

HELP FOR SOLDIERS IN AFGHANISTAN:  The church office has received names and addresses of several soldiers who are fighting in Afghanistan who do not receive mail or care-packages. If you would like to receive a name with which to correspond or send a care package, please contact the church office. This is a great outreach ministry for children to participate. 

JUNIOR HIGH YOUTH EVENT:  TODAY after the late service. 

FALL BLOOD DRIVE:  THIS WEDNESDAY, October 7, from 1:30 – 6:30 PM. Sign ups will may done between service in the church lobby or in the lobby by the elevator, walk-in’s are also welcomed.  Help make this a successful event and be a donor if you are able. OPERATION CHRISTMAS CHILD:  Start saving your shoeboxes today, as we begin to gather items for the boxes. Watch for additional information. 

SUNDAY SCHOOL STAFF MEETING: Wednesday, October 7 at 7 PM.  Teachers, substitutes, and helpers are encouraged to attend.

CHILDREN’S CHRISTMAS PROGRAM:  If anyone is interested in helping out with the Christmas Sunday School program, please contact Liz Nickel, 415-6838.

EXPIRED DRUG TOSS:  On October 9 from 10 AM to 2 PM, at Middletown Christian Church, there will be a collection of expired or no longer used medications. Please place all tablets and capsules (over- the-counter or prescription) into a large plastic bag and then place bottled liquids, tubes or vials of medication into another zip-lock bag.  MARK OUT any personal information on the labels.  Expired medications DO NOT manage your health condition for which they were prescribed and can harm you.  Disposing them by flushing or in the trash contaminates ground and drinking water.

ALL CHURCH/SCHOOL BUILDING KEY HOLDERS: For accountability and updating the church records, everyone having a key to the church or school building needs to please contact Sharon in the church office, 426-1130 or Jim Snyder.

POPCORN SALES: Cub Scout Troop 305 is selling a variety of popcorn in tins and microwavable, and an opportunity to purchase popcorn and send it to the military. This makes a wonderful gift.

SURVEY FOR WOMEN:  Lutheran Hour Ministries (LHM) and the Lutheran Women's Missionary League (LWML) are working together to answer two questions. Does our church body need something more in the area of women's ministry? And, if so, can our two organizations work together to help meet that need?  Lutheran Hour Ministries and Lutheran Women's Missionary League invite all women to complete the "LCMS Women's Survey" at www.lhm.org/research/women today!
