PRAYS ASKED, PRAYERS ANSWERED (PAPA’S) CORNER: This is a regular feature in the monthly newsletter, which is intended to be an opportunity for us to share our prayer experiences with each other; to encourage each other with ways that we have been able to incorporate prayer into our daily lives and to give God the glory for prayers answered. If you have a story about how prayer has affected your life, please contact Sheila Hildebrandt, 244-2941or the church office so that we may encourage one another in God’s love and His faithfulness to His promises. The invitation to pray is a gift from God, and His answers are an opportunity for us to share how God is at work in our lives. COMBINED SERVICE AND CONGREGATIONAL MEETING AND POTLUCK: Mark your calendars now for the next congregational on January 24, 2010. Sunday School and Bible Study will be held at 9 AM with the worship service at 10 AM, which is followed by the congregational meeting and potluck meal. NEW STUDIES: Parenting Skills for Christian Parents ~ Begins January 10, 2010 In addition to the current adult studies of:
Leader: Amy Mittlestat Location: Fellowship Hall Time: 9 – 10:30 AM The luggage of life: Haven’t you been known to pick up a few bags? Odds are you did this morning. Somewhere between the first step on the floor and the last step out the door, you grabbed some luggage. You stepped up to the baggage carousel and loaded up. The carousel is not the one at the airport, but the one in your mind. And the bags we grab are not made of leather; their made of burdens. The suitcase of guilt. The trunk of discontent. The backpack of anxiety and the hanging bag of grief. Add on a briefcase of perfectionism, an overnight bag of loneliness and a duffel bag of fear. No wonder we’re so tired at the end of the day. Where do we turn for help? How about looking at an old friend – the 23rd Psalm…Using these verses as a guide, Max Lucado, author of this study, walks us through a helpful inventory of our burdens. May God use this study. |
