ChristCare Small Groups

"Bear one another's burdens" is the Apostle Paul's message in Galatians 6:2. ChristCare Groups can become the caring arms of Christ--arms that reach out to comfort other group members and share their burdens. Through ChristCare Groups our entire congregation will be "armed" to care and to share Jesus' love with others--both inside and outside of the congregation.

Small Group Leaders Training Begins In February!
Monday, 31 December 2007 19:00
If you’ve been in an Experiencing God Small Group, you probably have found great benefit from being a part of a small group of Christians where you can share your struggles, and be supported in the process. Your Experiencing God Small Group experience will be ending this month. I am sure there are many of you who would like to continue your small group experience because of the blessings you have received through your experience.

A ChristCare Small Group is a natural extension of the Experiencing God Small Group and would be a wonderful place for you to continue that small group experience. We currently have only five ChristCare Small Groups that are limited to 12 participants per group. Some of these groups listed below have openings. I would encourage you to call the leaders listed below for more information about that particular group.

In order to make the small group experience available to more that just 60 people – we had about 130 people participating in Experiencing God Small Groups – we need more ChristCare Group Leaders. We are asking you to pray about becoming a ChristCare Group Leader! Is God speaking to you and are you sensing God moving you in this direction?

Volunteering to become a ChristCare Group Leader does not mean that you are now a Leader who is turned loose to form a small group. ChristCare Leaders are extensively trained (52 hours) and receive ongoing support once that training is completed. Training is scheduled to begin next month. Our goal is to train 10 new leaders. God may be calling you to be one of them!

If you are interested in finding out more about becoming a ChristCare Small Group Leader, please contact Charles or Marsha Puckett at 473-1691 or Paul Nickel at 426-1130.

ChristCare Needs to Grow
Sunday, 30 September 2007 19:00
Right now ChristCare Small Group Ministry is touching the lives of about 50 members of our church on a regular basis. We give thanks for this because this time last you there was only one functioning ChristCare group that involved about 10 people. There is still room in all of our existing ChristCare groups for more members. Remember the maximum size for a group is 12 members.

While we are thankful for those who are already participating and experiencing the unique care and discipleship that takes place in these groups, 50 participants is only small percentage of our total membership. In order for ChristCare to grow we need two things to happen.

First, we need to identify and train additional ChristCare Small group leaders. A new training class will begin in February. We already have two candidates for leaders training. But we would like to identify and train a minimum of four additional leaders.

Second, we need to expand our ChristCare Equippers leadership team. ChristCare Equippers are the administrative and training arm of ChristCare. Right now that team includes Paul Nickel and Marsha and Charles Puckett. To be more effective we need to expand our team to six. In order to become or continue as an Equipper, it is necessary to attend a week long intensive training workshop held in April in St. Louis. Paul and Charles have attended this workshop. Marsha is able to attend this April. We would like to send additional people as well.

As you seek where God is working in your life as you Experience God this fall and winter, perhaps He may direct you toward ChristCare’s unique ministry of caring for one another and helping each other grow as His disciples. We can see God working in and through this ministry. Maybe He’s directing you to join us. We pray only that you seek His will for you.

June 2007 News
Thursday, 31 May 2007 19:00
The last Sunday of May marked a mile stone for ChristCare Ministry at Our Savior. We were able to give God thanks and praise for Norm Kendt and his 10 years of service as a ChristCare Leader! He has truly gone above and beyond in his service as a Leader. We ask for a two year commitment from everyone who is a part of leadership in this ministry. Norm has continued to serve even when the structured support became dysfunctional. That is truly a powerful witness to the value of ChristCare Ministry in Norm’s life and the lives of the participants in his group many of whom have been a part of this group from the beginning. Thank You Lord for Norm!

Our ChristCare Groups are now meeting on a regular basis! We give God praise for His wonderful and marvelous work! In fact one group has already reached its limit of participants. ChristCare groups are limited to twelve. Not just because Jesus had twelve disciples, but research has shown that if a group consists of more than twelve the quality of care and communication within the group diminishes greatly. In our past experience with ChristCare some groups had more that the twelve and we found this to be true. The really great news is that two people have already expressed a desire to be a part of our next Leaders Training beginning in September! We did not ask them; we did not beg them; they stepped up! God is truly at work!

We encourage you to contact the ChristCare Group Leaders listed above to find out more information about their group. Visit a group and experience what a group is like. We’re sure you will want to return.

ChristCare Groups Will Be Forming Soon!
Saturday, 03 February 2007 01:53
Our ChristCare Groups are deeply important to our vision of our church as an interdependent Christian caring community. Thus you will be hearing about them regularly.

With great joy, immeasurable hope, and heartfelt care for you, we invite you to learn more about ChristCare Groups because they are places where you can:
  • develop new friendships
  • care and be cared for
  • serve and reach out to others
  • learn and grow through studying the Scriptures
  • pray and worship

Circles of Care with Christ as the Center:  ChristCare Groups are circles of care. Member of ChristCare Groups get to know and genuinely care for one another. They support and encourage one another through life’s ups and downs. They have a deep sense of belonging to a caring Christian community.

ChristCare Groups have Christ at their center. Group members seek to become more fully devoted followers of Jesus. They search the Scriptures where Jesus finds them and takes hold of them. They offer their prayers and worship to God through Jesus Christ. They reach out, in Jesus’ name, to serve and to proclaim the Good News.

Watch for more information about when ChristCare Groups will be forming this Spring. This information will contain the names of the group leaders, dates and times when the groups will be initially meeting, and other specific information.

If you have questions about ChristCare Groups, you may call Charles or Marsha Puckett or Paul Nickel.

We look forward to the ways God will bless both ChristCare Group participants and the entire congregation through this ministry.
