1. What is the “mood” of biblical stewardship? (Exodus Chapter 35) It is a ___Joyful______ __ Voluntary _ response to God . 2. What is biblical stewardship? (1 Corinthians 16:2 … and … 2 Corinthians 9:6-8) It is _ Regular __, ___Proportionate and __ Cheerful ___. “You can’t stay where you are and go with God at the same time.” Are we going with God? 3. What is the Budget? It is a Roadmap for ministry. It tells us how we are planning to “sow” the gifts ($$$) God has given us. 4. Two viewpoints on the Budget: a. Only do the ministry you have the resources to complete. b. Do the ministry you feel God is calling you to do, and then trust that He will supply the needs. 5. If you choose a. – We never see God at work, we only see what we ourselves can do. If you choose b. - It’s difficult to put “Trust in God” on the accounting sheets. 6. Scripturally, we are called to trust that God will provide. And when He does, we give Him the credit! 7. How does God “show up”? - By blessing His people. - By blessing His Church. So, what do we do? 8. First: Pray that God would support the work He has called us to do. And that He will show us how He intends to do that. 9. Second … if God has promised to support the work He has called us to do, and He intends to do so through His blessing of our members … we should talk about that. 10. If a Budget Deficit is the symptom, then our Giving is the root of the problem. 11. Our Giving (biblically speaking) is called to be: _ Regular , __ Proportionate and __ Cheerful ___. 12. EVEN IF a Budget Deficit goes away, our need to Give doesn’t. 12. Giving is a scriptural act of Worship. If the Church didn’t need our money, WE’D STILL NEED TO GIVE! 13. Our giving is called to be: _ Regular , __ Proportionate and __ Cheerful ___. 14. In the Old Testament --- God said worship on the Sabbath and God’s people were required to “Tithe” or give 10% percent. 15. In the New Testament – God’s people are called to worship and to give _ Regularly and in _ Proportion to their income. (See 2 Corinthians 8:12). 18. Church members today generally Don’t Know what proportion they give. But, for most it’s about 2 - 3 percent. 19. Who gives proportionately more? _______ The Wealthy? ___X___ The Poor? (Luke 21:2) 20. If our goal is to grow in our faith. What should our goal be regarding our stewardship?? “You can’t stay where you are go with God.” Take the 1% challenge. Example $5000 income tithe = $500. 1% of $5000 = $50 21. What we give is “sown” into the Kingdom … and nothing “sown” is ever Lost . |
