For those who are interested, the Lutheran Church Extension Fund (LCEF) offers several financial options as alternatives to traditional savings and checking accounts. The additional benefit is that LCEF empowers ministry throughout the synod with above market rates. Finally, the more of us have LCEF accounts, the lower the rate of interest we pay on our mortgage. YI Club

The Young Investors (Y.I.) Club makes saving money fun while teaching children to give thanks for God’s blessings. Through Y.I. Club newsletters, activities and web pages including the Y.I. Activity Center, your child learns the value of saving, spending and sharing money—while empowering ministry through LCEF.

Steward Account

LCEF’s Steward Account is an easy-access investment that builds over time with interest earned. With your Steward Account you’ll maintain full control over your balances and enjoy convenient online access through MyAccount. LCEF also offers a Y.I. Steward Account option for investors under 19.

Health Savings Account

Many employers offer the health coverage option of a high-deductible health plan (HDHP) that can be paired with a Health Savings Account (HSA). HSAs offer investors the opportunity to use their funds to pay for qualifying medical expenses. Contributions are tax-deductible, earnings grow tax-free and withdrawals are tax-free for qualified medical, dental and vision expenses.
