WOMEN'S MINISTRY AT
OUR SAVIOR
The Women's Ministry at Our Savior is active in supporting groups within and outside of Our Savior Lutheran Church. There is something for women of all ages! Many of the activites are aligned with the Lutheran Women's Missionary League (LWML) of the Lutheran Church- Missouri Synod. The mission of the LWML is to assist each woman of the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod in affirming her relationship with the Triune God so that she is enabled to use her gifts in ministry to the people of the world.
The LWML meets on the 4th Sunday of each month.
WOMEN'S MINISTRY UPDATE
Due to Covid 19 and social distancing, Women’s Ministry will not be having their annual yard sale or book sale this year. Hopefully in June of 2021 we will be able to have the book and yard sales.
Women’s Ministry has set up a FREE mini library in the Fellowship Hall. If you would like to borrow a fiction or non-fiction book to read, please help yourself. When you return it, please put it in the “Return Box” on the floor.
There are also children’s books on the shelves. These books are mostly from Our Savior classrooms and do NOT need to be returned. Please take some books for your children or grandchildren to enjoy.

August 2020
Show your faith…Wear IT! The 2021 LWML Convention Logo Polo Shirt has the convention logo printed on the shirt and is available for purchase. The logo, “Running the Race…Looking to Jesus,” incorporates the shape of a horseshoe, which is also the last letter of the Greek alphabet, Omega, (Revelation 22:13). It also reminds us that horses are a large part of Kentucky’s culture. A laurel wreath was given to the victors by the ancient Greeks and appears on either side of the Cross, symbolizing our victory in Christ. The banner proclaims the convention theme, “Running the Race…Looking to Jesus,” and is based on Hebrews 12:1-2. Order forms to purchase the LWML Convention Logo Polo Shirt are available on the LWML Indiana District website at www.lwmlindiana.org. Wear your shirt to promote the 2021 LWML Convention and share your faith. Then make plans to attend the LWML Convention in Lexington, Kentucky, June 24-27, 2021. Have you considered helping at the convention? A Call for Workers form is available on the LWML Indiana District website, www.lwmlindiana.org. The form lists the many areas where your gifts and talents can be used. With your assistance in any position, you are “Running the Race…Looking to Jesus.”
Operation Gratitude
Operation Gratitude supports American Military and First Responders with care packages. Our Savior’s Women’s Ministry has been supporting Operation Gratitude for several years by sending them handmade scarves every November.
This year we would like to increase the items we our sending to this great cause and are asking the congregation to help with this mission.
Every month, starting in February, and ending in October we will be collecting two items to go in these care packages. A marked box will be located in the Welcome Center for you to drop off your donations.
Thank you to all who have donated this year! Continue to watch for new items each month and consider donating to this great cause!

Quilt Ministry
Meets once a month on the second Thursday of the month from 9:30am - 2:00pm. All are encouraged to come for whatever amount of time you are able. Bring your lunch, a dessert will be provided. You do not need any quilting experience.
In 2019 our goal will be to teach all aspects of completing a quilt.
In 2018 we donated a total of 68 quilts. Here are the stories of some of the quilts donated:
-
Twenty-five were given to Freedom House in Louisville which is a residential treatment program for alcohol and/or drug dependent pregnant women and women with young children. This holistic and comprehensive program is designed to treat the women’s chemical dependency, to break the cycle of addiction in families, to reunite families broken apart by addiction, and to promote the birth of healthy, drug-free babies.
-
Nineteen were given to Louisville Rescue Mission They reconcile homeless and hurting people to God, family, and community by the power of Christ in partnership with the local church. A Christ Care Small Group at Our Savior serves monthly at this organization.
